FACSymphony A5 SE

The Cytometry Center at the BCF, Faculty of Medicine, Technion was recently equipped with a state-of-the-art BD FACSymphony A5 SE cell analyzer system. This system is a spectral-enabled cell analyzer where you can choose between spectral or compensation-based cell analyses to meet different flow cytometry needs.

The instrument is equipped with five excitation lasers (UV 349nm, violet 405nm, blue 488nm, yellow/green 561nm & red 637nm) and 50 detectors for maximum coverage of the fluorochrome emission spectrum, increasing dye flexibility and number of simultaneous parameters.

The FACSymphony™ A5 SE has high performance PMT’s for enhanced resolution, and the ability to resolve critical cell populations with high autofluorescence using autofluorescence unmixing. The instrument also has a high throughput sampler (HTS) option for fully automated sample acquisition from 96 well plates.

For filters and channel information see here.

The instrument is available for trained users in a self-operated mode. Untrained users must contact core personnel to schedule hands-on training.

Pre-reservation is required and can be done via BookItLab. Please note, the Symphony can get busy at times, it is therefore best to reserve it as early ahead of time as possible.

Acquisition is done with BD FACSDiva™ v9 software and FCS files should be exported to our bcf-server after acquisition. Please make sure to back up your own data – we are not doing so!

Data analysis of the FCS files can be done with any third party analysis software. We have several workstations with a variety of software. See our Data Analysis page for additional information.
